Description
The inspiration for this curriculum comes from Title IX research and from my own experience as a female athlete and coach.
Instilling self-esteem and confidence in girls through sport stands at the center of VEHICLE’s goals. Lessons learned in sport such as problem solving, goal setting, teamwork, competition, cooperation, communication, managing success and failure, and accepting constructive feedback provides participants skills to succeed in life.
Voice empowerment blossoms in a program like VEHICLE that purposely creates safe spaces and opportunities for participants to understand themselves and their place in the world.
Participants identify and implement powerful skills that positively impact their daily lives such as how to be a positive leader, a good teammate, and a good friend.
Participants will develop tools for:
- personal reflection
- content mastery
- critical thinking
- awareness of multicultural group dynamics
- action and social change
VEHICLE is designed for groups, teams, and organizations that utilize physical activity to improve the lives of girls. Each lesson lasts 45-60 minutes and requires a facilitator.
